Honoring and Giving Thanks to Our Veteran-Owned MBEs

As a regional affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council (EMSDC) serves as a growth engine for minority-owned businesses throughout Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. We strive to advance economic equity and access to the American Dream for all, including systematically excluded communities of color (Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic, and Native American). In honor of Veterans Day, we would like to take a moment to recognize and thank all of our Corporate Members and certified MBEs who have also served in the United States Armed Forces.

The NMSDC strongly believes that “the journey to MBE growth starts with certification.” While we proudly certify businesses that are at least 51% minority-owned, operated, and controlled, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) does the same for veteran-owned businesses through their Veteran Small Business Certification (VetCert) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) programs. Other organizations, such as the National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA), offer similar certifications.

Here is a spotlight on some of our certified veteran/minority businesses enterprises:

Mustang Expediting, Inc.

Mustang Expediting, Inc. provides “high-quality transportation, warehousing and logistics services to some of the country’s most successful and demanding organizations.” In addition to its MBE status with the EMSDC, this Pennsylvania business is veteran-owned and operated, with certification from the NaVOBA. John Sanchez, President and CEO, is a decorated combat veteran and graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, with an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
